The thickets along the highway and in the backyard are dense with blackberries. There is a bottle of gin on the counter. I’m thirsty. Here is the logical and most enjoyable solution.
1.5 oz gin
simple syrup to taste (2 tbs approx)
5-6 fresh blackberries
juice of half a lemeon
splash of seltzer water
Directions: In a cocktail shaker, muddle blackberries, gin, lemon and simple syrup. Shake with ice. Pour over a glass filled with ice and top with seltzer. Garnish with one or two fresh blackberries and a lemon twist. You won’t be disappointed.
